THE WORLD OF COLORS

The “RGB” mode
red, green, blue is designed specifically for monitors.

The “CMYK” mode
4-color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow and black is the basic mode for digital and inkjet color printing

Pantone® PMS
are pigment colors obtained by mixing ink before printing. Unlike four-color (CMYK), Pantone® PMS colors are printed one by one, rendering exactly the desired color.

THE WORLD OF PIXELS AND VECTORS

Pixels “ppp” “ppi”

You should know that “dpi” stands for “Dots Per Inch” and “ppi” stands for “Pixel per inch.” These are raster images like photos. If these images are enlarged too much, we will see the image decompose into pixels.

VECTOR IMAGES

The basic principle of vector drawing is to describe simple geometric shapes (arcs of circles or ellipses, straight line segments, Bézier curves, etc.), to which various transformations can be applied: rotation, squashing, scaling. During a representation, the software works with lines (or curves) and surfaces. All lines, individually, are defined by characteristic points that define its equation. These characteristic points form a vector. Thus, this equation is calculated by the computer and is kept in memory by it. For example, when drawing an ellipse, it will exist in two forms: a mathematical formula in memory and a path on the screen. The path is controlled by the vector, the characters of the line and the color of the surface. Thus, all these parameters remain modifiable separately. You can therefore enlarge or reduce objects (drawings, texts, etc.) at will, and this without loss!

MARGINS AND LOST MARGINS

The margins
Margins are located inside the sheet. They also serve as safe areas when printing.

Lost margins “BLEED”
Bleed margins are located on the outside of the sheet. They are printed areas that will be trimmed when finishing your product: safety areas during printing since the register of digital machines is not yet at 100%.
